What Phia watches for.

From the first text through baby’s first year, Phia’s agent keeps watch for more than 150 named risks across mental health, physical health, the baby and everyday needs. When something needs a person, a nurse steps in.

Always on watch

One text thread.
More than 150 named risks.

Every risk is named, rated low, moderate, high or critical, and tracked over time. Most surface in intake answers or in what a mom says by text. Screening scores and blood pressure readings add to the picture.

Where Phia hears it.

Intake

Answers at sign-up.

A short intake covers health history, the pregnancy and life at home, so Phia starts with the full picture.

Every text

What she says.

Phia reads every message for warning signs, including the ones that end in “probably nothing.”

Screenings and readings

Scores and numbers.

EPDS, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 are scored on the spot. A severe blood pressure reading counts right away. A high one is confirmed by a second within 24 hours.

Four areas, one watch list.

Each named risk sits in one of four areas, and each one has a plan for what happens next.

01

Mental health

Thoughts of self-harm, postpartum psychosis, severe or past depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD and birth trauma, stopping psychiatric medication, grief after a loss, and substance use, including opioids, alcohol and stimulants.

02

Physical health

Preeclampsia and high blood pressure, diabetes and gestational diabetes, heavy bleeding, clotting disorders, preterm labor, decreased fetal movement, placenta problems, chest pain, fever, severe headache and leg swelling.

03

The baby

Breathing trouble, fever, failure to thrive, poor weight gain, jaundice, preterm birth, NICU stays and bonding.

04

Everyday needs

Housing, food, transportation, money stress, no insurance or provider, limited support at home, language barriers and partner violence.

05

Emergencies

Phia is not an emergency service. When a message points to one, Phia directs her to 911, the ER, labor and delivery or the 988 crisis line, and alerts the clinical team.

Every risk gets a level.

Low, moderate, high or critical. The level decides who gets involved and how fast.

Low

Noted and tracked.

Logged to her record so a pattern over time doesn’t get missed.

Moderate

Watched more closely.

Added to her overall risk picture and kept in view in the thread.

High

Care team alerted.

Phia’s clinical team is alerted right away, a nurse steps in, and her OB gets a dashboard update and an email.

Critical

Help right away.

Everything in high, plus Phia points her to 911, the ER, labor and delivery or the 988 crisis line when it can’t wait.

Partner network

Partners Phia refers patients to.

Rula

Therapy and psychiatric care for when mood or anxiety shows up between OB visits.
