Phia Expands Its Pregnancy and Postpartum Care Network With Four New Partnerships

Phia is building a connected care network for pregnancy and postpartum, managed through one ongoing text conversation.

Through new partnerships with Ophelia, Origin, Rula, and Sunflower Clinic, patients can connect to a broader range of specialist services, with Phia’s SMS agent and nurse team helping identify needs, coordinate referrals, and follow up after the handoff.

For payers, providers, and employers, this brings specialist access and ongoing patient support together in one maternal health offering.

The network expands what patients can reach. Phia maintains the relationship that helps them get there.

One conversation, a growing network of care

Pregnancy and postpartum needs extend across specialties. A patient may need help with her mental health, physical recovery, or substance use alongside the care she receives from her OB. Finding and navigating those services adds work at a time when she already has plenty to manage.

Phia gives patients a familiar starting point: a text conversation where they can ask questions, share concerns, and receive support between appointments.

The SMS agent helps gather information, send referrals with consent, guide next steps, and follow up on progress. Nurses and clinicians step in when assessment, clinical judgment, or personal support is needed.

Specialist partners deliver treatment. Phia continues coordinating and supporting the broader care journey.

From “here’s a referral” to “let’s get you connected”

A referral should be the beginning of care. Too often, patients are left to work out what happens next: whom to contact, what to complete, and how to get started.

Phia brings support for those steps into an ongoing text conversation.

A patient might mention pelvic discomfort during a recovery check-in, ask for a therapist, or disclose that she is struggling with substance use. That conversation becomes the starting point for help.

The referral process includes:

  • Understanding the need: gathering the patient’s concerns and bringing in the nurse team when clinical judgment is needed.

  • Connecting to care: identifying an appropriate partner pathway and sending the referral with the patient’s consent.

  • Managing the next steps: helping the patient understand intake requirements, sending reminders, and checking on progress.

  • Following through: asking whether the patient connected, surfacing barriers, and involving the care team when more support is needed.

Partner intake and treatment may happen through the partner’s own systems. Phia remains the familiar place patients can text for help navigating the process.

Ophelia: A pathway to opioid use disorder treatment

Ophelia provides online, clinician-led treatment for opioid use disorder, including medication-based care.

Our partnership creates a referral pathway for patients who need this specialized support. A disclosure in a Phia conversation can lead to involvement from our care team and help connecting to Ophelia.

Phia’s role continues around that handoff: explaining the next step, checking whether the patient connected, and helping address obstacles along the way. Ophelia’s clinicians manage the specialized treatment.

The aim is to make asking for help lead to a clear, supported next step.

Origin: Bringing pelvic health into the recovery journey

Origin provides pelvic floor and whole-body physical therapy, including virtual care options.

Our partnership expands the care pathways available when patients raise concerns about pelvic health or physical recovery. Through Phia, patients have a place to discuss those concerns and receive help navigating a referral to Origin when appropriate.

The agent helps manage the steps around the referral and follows up on whether the patient was able to connect. Our care team remains available as other needs emerge during recovery.

Physical recovery belongs in the ongoing care conversation.

Rula: Connecting patients to therapy and psychiatry

Rula connects patients with mental health professionals for therapy and psychiatric care.

Our partnership gives Phia patients another pathway to ongoing mental health support. A patient can ask for help by text, discuss next steps with Phia, and receive assistance moving through the referral process.

Phia helps coordinate the connection and follows up on barriers to getting started. Rula’s providers deliver treatment, while Phia continues supporting the patient’s broader care journey.

That continuity matters: seeking mental health care is one step in a patient’s life, alongside recovery, family responsibilities, appointments, and other health needs.

Sunflower Clinic: Expanding access to addiction care

Sunflower Clinic offers online therapy and medication services for addiction treatment.

This partnership broadens Phia’s network of substance use care pathways. It gives our care team an additional option when helping patients find support suited to their needs.

Phia’s agent helps manage the referral process, communicate next steps, and check whether the patient has connected. The clinical teams determine appropriate care, and Sunflower delivers its specialized services.

Together, these pathways support a network that can respond to a wider range of patient needs.

A growing maternal health network for payers, providers, and employers

These partnerships are part of a larger ambition: building a broad specialist network around one ongoing relationship with each patient throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Every additional partner expands the pathways Phia can help patients navigate. The agent and nurse team connect those pathways through ongoing support, so the network becomes more useful as it grows.

For payers, Phia connects maternal care management with practical next steps. Member conversations can lead to specialist referrals, follow-up, and identification of barriers that need human attention. Phia helps members move from an identified need toward care while continuing support between appointments.

For providers, Phia extends support beyond the visit. Patients have a place to raise concerns and receive help connecting with additional services. The SMS agent manages referral steps and follow-up, with the nurse team available when patients need more support.

For employers, Phia provides a consistent starting point for employees navigating pregnancy and postpartum. One ongoing relationship can help them reach a growing range of services as their needs change, with support for the work of getting connected.

Partner access depends on the service, patient eligibility, location, insurance, and availability. Phia helps patients navigate those practical considerations as part of the referral process.

A new model for care between appointments

Phia’s model brings an agent-driven network together with ongoing clinical support. The SMS agent helps turn a conversation into action: gather context, involve the care team, send the referral, guide the next step, and follow up.

That is how these partnerships advance a new approach to maternal care management. Specialist access becomes part of the ongoing patient relationship, with an agent managing routine coordination and nurses and clinicians providing judgment and support.

As the network grows, Phia can connect patients to more services while remaining the familiar place they turn to between appointments. Our focus stays on pregnancy and postpartum; our capacity to help expands with each partner.

Ophelia, Origin, Rula, and Sunflower Clinic are part of that growing network—and part of a model built to connect patients, specialist providers, payers, and employers through sustained support.

Care shouldn’t disappear between appointments. Neither should support after a referral.
